SO I have taken apart a Blackberry Pearl 8100 today. I am currently editing the photo and making guides and how to instructions for various parts on the phone.
Here is a picture of all the covers and LCD removed.
I plan to have repair guides for the microphone, the speaker, the lcd, the trackball, and the keypad. If there is one that you need let me know.
Look for the guides in a few days.

YOu can try this:
Options > Security Options > General Settings > menu key > Wipe Handheld.
Set the “content protection” to disabled to speed the process.
