Fix a Wet Phone with Rice

How to Fix a Wet Phone with Rice.
Video Rating: 3 / 5

The Ringer on my Blackberry BOLD (9000) stopped working - I discovered this because I use it as my alarm.. and it 'didn't go off' in the morning. My phone would show someone calling, but NO SOUND. Turns out this is a common issue, but it was 13 months after I purchased.. warranty is only 12 months (Rogers Wireless offered to sell me a new phone with a 3yr package for 9 - YA RIGHT ) What you need Blackberry Bold, scissors, Tim Horton card, Push Pin, 2 mins. Worked for me, hope you have the same luck.

how long do i leave it in the rice ?

I’m not sure a hair dryer is a good idea…It could force the water further into the phone but if you must use a hair dryer, use the cool setting, not the heat.

@Tyaw95 It still works, I dropped my phone in the garden and then 3 days later I found, and it had been raining for two days.

The rice worked amazingly well, it totally saved my phone!!

@overcastgabriel Actually Hair Dryers Don’t Damage Phones . One Time My Cousin Dropped My Phone In A Glass Of Soda-Pop && My Aunt Fixed It With ONLY A Hair Dryer .

  6. overcastgabriel says:

DO EVERY THING THIS SAY BESIDE THE HAIR DRYER IT will damage you phone but the rice really helps uncooked

I don’t think this will work for me. I dropped my iPod in my cereal, lol. The milk probably already dried too. It went too soon.

  14. arcadianskies77 says:

@7wars way to match me. It came on this morning but it’s terribly glitchy, approaching FUBAR.

  17. arcadianskies77 says:

So. I was at the pool and I wanted to get one last dive in (okay maybe two) before I left. I went out to my car to put my shit up, came back, did my dives, and left. When I sat down I realized my phone was in my back pocket. Took me about 20 minutes to get into town, and another 10 before I was home and putting the phone in the rice. I do believe I’m fucked. Haha.

  18. LadyLoex3 says:

MAN – thanks a lot! i tried several other do-it-yourself fixes, but most failed and some fixed the problem but the cover would not be in its natural position and would come off. Your fix is just PERFECT! THANKS!

By the way: although they dont read this! Love Blackberry, but this small problems really such! RIM should take care of this probs in the future!

  48. fmtvdxer1 says:

I’ve received and given out many tip’s about repairing stuff in my time but this video really beats the lot. My bold 9000 hasn’t ringtoned for over a year and upto now Blackberry Customer Services + the blackberry 9000 forums were not much help either, but finding this vid has got my 9000 fully working again, Cheers Joe.

NB: Just goes to show how a repair so trivial and simple such using a toothpick can bring back to life what was an expensive blackerry phone at the time of it’s purchase.

  49. OSKVID says:
