no, i have an sk 08 without the data plan, although i highly suggest that you if you want a sk get the data plan b/c w/o the data plan, your info (i.e. contacts, calendar dates, picture&text messages) get erased. pretty much anything that is saved on the phone and not on the memory or sim card is screwed. but heres a word of advice. if you do get the sk without the data plan, make sure you dont take up a lot of space with pictures and stuff. pretty much dont overload it.
highlight the message then hit menu+ Y . this saves the message to your sim card. it doesnt work for picture messages though. just text messages. although, when you go to your picture messages, you can save the image by clicking “show attachments” then click on the image then hit “save to album”
