is it asking for the pin, sim pin, or puk?
Pin- if you try it too many times and you get locked out, it will ask for puk. you can get the puk from a corporate store usually its on ur account but they wont give it over the phone.

Review of My Nokia 5800
I got one 5800 last month and then I was deeply fascinated by this smart phone. It is the first Nokia touch screen phone and you may use your finger or stylus to operate it. Also Nokia 5800 XpressMusic provides wonderful devices for users to enjoy music. Taking advantage of touch screen technology, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic introduces the ‘Media Bar’, a handy drop down menu that provides direct access to music and entertainment, including favourite tracks, videos and photos. The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic offers all the music essentials, including a graphic equalizer, 8GB memory for up to 6000 tracks, a 3.5mm jack, support for main digital video formats 3GP?H.264/AVC?MPEG4, RM.and audio formats MP3, AAC, WMA, WMV. Built-in surround sound stereo speakers offer the industry’s most powerful sound. So it is really wonderful experience of enjoy music and movies with Nokia 5800 XpressMusic.

How to update the firmware of Nokia 5800 to v21
It is good news that firmware update for Nokia 5800 was released already. New firmware v.21 is available. If you also own a 5800, just follow the simple instruction to update your v20 or v10 to the newest v21.
Make sure that your battery is full (VERY IMPORTANT)
1. Go to Dial screen and press *#0000#
2. Press Options -> Check for updates
3. Connect to the Internet with any APN (WiFi is recommended, however EDGE is fast enough for this). 4. Wait until the download finished. Phone will launch the dialog asking for update, just press Now. 5. Press Accept and Accept and the phone will be switched to Updating mode.
6. It takes around 10 minutes to update, so be patient. After that, the phone will be rebooted automatically.
7. Check by *#0000# again. Congrats! Your 5800 is now v21!
As I can see, there are so many improvements and worth to update for example, better camera functionality and the phone operates faster than previous version.

Best Settings for Video Playback on Nokia 5800 Xpress Music
Nokia 5800 as the multimedia phones makes you able to enjoy watching the video and music with it. The question is, how’s to do to convert that videos and what are the best setting used for. I have convert many videos into my phone, I found that most video files can play with this phone such as mp4, 3gp, rmvb and flv files. But of them plays well but some are not. After many tries, I finally got the best results for Nokia video files. My video in 5800 was full screen, high quality and sounds very well. Here are my settings:
Video Resolution: 480*320
Video Bitrate: 768 kbps
Audio Bitrate: 128 kbps
Video Format: MPEG-4 (be sure not to use H264, as it’s not supported in the current firmware)

Audio Format: MP3
Audio Channels: 2 Channels
You can apply these settings above in whatever application you used when converting videos into 5800. Then I am sure you will get full screen, high quality and flawless video in your phone.

Settings for video playback on Nokia N97, N95, N85 and other Nokia phones.
Nokia N97: Video playback formats are 3GP formats, Flash Video, H.264/AVC, MPEG-4; the video resolution is 360*640. Audio formats are AAC, M4A, MP3, WAV, WMA etc.
Nokia N96: video playback formats are 3GP, Flash video, H.264/AVC, MPEG-4, RealVideo, WMV 9; the video resolution is 240*320. Audio formats are AAC, MP3, WAV, WMA etc.
Nokia N95: video playback formats are MP4, 3GP. Video resolution is up to 640*480, audio format is AAC stereo.
Nokia N85: video playback formats are 3GP formats, Flash video, H.264/AVC, MPEG-4, and WMV. The resolution is 240*320. The audio formats are AAC, M4A, MP3, WAV and WMA etc.
OK, I will not list all settings of Nokia phones. If you are interested you may get more relative information on Nokia official website.

How to transfer video files into Nokia 5800
I have download some videos from video website such as Youtube, Google video. But I can’t watch these videos in my phone. As these videos were flv files, Nokia 5800 can’t play such videos. The metallic keypad of Nokia 6300 actually hurts my fingers after i press it with my fingers repeatedly to send messages and scroll thru and activate its various functions. Its manual did state that repeated pressing of its keypad may cause abrasion or irritation to finger-tips. If this is not a design flaw, i don't know what is.

well the razr keypad, even though it looks to be metallic is actualy a piece of rubber/plasti, and teh nokia keypad is actual metal, so there is trhe difference

Nokia N8 ? Sleek Sensation

The Nokia N8 is, without doubt, one of the most anticipated terminals of the season. Latest hardware, excellent build quality and the latest evolution of Symbian as the operating system are the strong points of the last representative of the number N. Nokia has given us the opportunity to try it in first person and I told you that we expect from the big bet of Nokia in the smartphone market. The Nokia N8 will be available after the summer for about 500 euros (free).

Here is nokia N8 review:
The Nokia N8 has excellent build quality, highlighting the anodized aluminum chassis (except for the screen frame and profiles, which are of high quality plastic) and a brilliant assembly but with a trick: to improve the structural integrity of Nokia terminal has opted to use screws to secure the back cover. In practice means that we must remove the battery to change or insert the SIM (transactions that should be rare on the other side).

One of the most criticized aspects of the last great exponent of the number N was the resistive screen. Fortunately, Nokia has already shown its good performance with capacitive technology in various models and the Nokia N8 offers a fantastic display. The native resolution of 640 x 360 is not of record (the iPhone 4 or S Galaxy get over Samsung, to name two examples) but offers a dot density is more than enough to display text, photographs and images with vivid clarity. Colors show vividly the contrast is enough to show deep blacks, although it will prove that it behaves very bright outdoors.

Although the touch screen is the primary means to interact with the Nokia has included physical buttons discreetly Power, volume control and menu. We liked the metal tab lock, very strong and well resolved from the aesthetic point of view.

Among the most notable improvements are a much more polished multimedia section (the player is fantastic), options to share content very well implemented, easier management of the panels start and the possibility to interact (data transfer and playback of multimedia) with any compatible USB storage devices (must be in FAT32). On the negative side a browser that still does not convince.

At this point it is worth to mention two interesting details: the HDMI works perfectly and has the video and audio (Dolby Surround Pro) in high definition with total flow (we tried a couple of trailers in 720p MKV). The other aspect is related to the connectivity management: now the operating system (and without third-party applications) can automatically switch between 3G and WiFi, saving battery and providing the best speed Internet access at all times.

Nokia N8 price:
The Nokia N8 price is approximately 370 euros. I say free because so far there is no known company that offers the terminal (Vodafone, Movistar, Orange). Be assumed that the cost will drop significantly by hiring a voice and data rate with any of these operators.

Finally, to say that Nokia has prepared several colors for the Nokia N8, another example of youth and personalized approach that is going to take part in the philosophy of the manufacturers.

The Nokia N8 offers an impressive technological equipment, modern design and rugged construction and well resolved from the aesthetic point of view but in our opinion, Symbian continues to lag behind other systems when it comes to high-end smartphones and get it very difficult to compete directly with supply available for the second part of the year (Ovi developments will also have influence on this point.) The decision to leave Nokia for Symbian Meego for their high end phones confirmed our impressions.

In any case, it would be unfair to the Nokia N8 qualify as a disappointing product. In fact, I augur little commercial success that operators are involved with the device and provide subsidized affordable. Nokia faithful to find what they want and users to prioritize the technological arsenal, the camera and the added value offered free lifetime GPS or HDMI output (to give a few examples) as opposed to other factors found in the N8 a smartphone really interesting and probably a set final price than other options.

Soft keys are too close to the center (too easy to mistakenly press “C” or the application key)
Cursor control is difficult
The media player is somewhat limited and finicky to use (for instance, it’s hard to skip a few seconds further or backward inside a track without risking skipping to the next track)
Input mode selection is fiddly
Nokiapersists in not allowing its Exchange ActiveSyncclient to run on it. If you’re lucky, you might be able to install version 1.3.1 and get it to sync your calendar and contacts, but you won’t be able to read e-mail messages. And version 2.0.0 doesn’t work, period.

Menus are numbered as follow:

2. call log
3. profiles
4. settings
5. gallery
6. games
7. voice
9.organizer

However, number 8 menu doesn't appear and therefore cannot be accesed. Is there anyway to access this menu? Any tricks?

Also what can I do to enable wap browser in my phone?

I wouldn't try to mess with the codes or anything hidden. Last time I tried to reset a setting that was hidden. I locked myself out of the phone. And I had to take it to the dealer to have them fix it.
